Prof. Dr. Kursat GUNDOGAN
Prof. Dr. Kursat Gundogan has been serving as a Professor at the Division of Intensive Care Medicine, Erciyes University School of Medicine, Kayseri, Turkey since 2011. Prior to his current position, he worked as an Internal Medicine specialist in hospitals affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of Health for four years.
He received his MD degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Erciyes University in 1998.
He completed a Research and Clinical Fellowship in Clinical Nutrition in the Department of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine and the Nutrition and Metabolic Support Service at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, USA (2012–2013). Later, he continued his academic collaboration with Emory University as a Visiting Professor in Clinical Nutrition, focusing on nutritional metabolomics (2021–2022), supported by a TÜBİTAK 2219 International Research Fellowship.
Prof. Gundogan has been a member of the Erciyes University Scientific Research Committee since 2016 and has served as the Coordinator of the Clinical Nutrition PhD Program at the Institute of Health Sciences since 2018. He was the Vice Director of the Gevher Nesibe Genome and Stem Cell Institute between 2018 and 2021.
He holds certification as a Life-Long Learning (LLL) Trainer in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism, awarded by the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN).
Prof. Gundogan has authored 80 international articles indexed in PubMed and delivered numerous national and international presentations on nutrition and the management of critically ill patients. He co-authored a book chapter titled “Amino Acid Composition in Parenteral Nutrition” (Gundogan K, Ziegler T.R.) in the reference book Diet and Nutrition in Critical Care (Springer, 2015).
He is an active contributor to the ESPEN Micronutrient Guidelines, including:

He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Practice and Research (formerly Erciyes Medical Journal), which is indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) of Web of Science.
Prof. Gundogan is a member of several prominent international working groups, including the ESICM FREM Section Working Group and the ESPEN Micronutrient Study Group (SIG). He has also been an active member of the Society of Turkish Intensivists (STI) since 2011 and currently serves on its Executive Committee (since 2023).

Asst. Prof. Pervin HANCI YILMAZTURK
She has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pulmonology, Division of Intensive Care Unit, at Trakya University Faculty of Medicine in Edirne, Turkey, since 2020. Before this position, she worked as an Intensivist at a hospital affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of Health for two years.
She earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine, in 2008.
In 2013, she completed her speciality training in Pulmonology at Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Medicine and her sub-speciality training in Intensive Care at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2018.
From 2019 to 2024, she served as the secretary for the Ultrasonography Study Group of the Society of Turkish Intensivists and continues to be an active member of the executive committee of this working group.
She has been an active member of the Turkish Respiratory Society’s Intensive Care Working Group since 2019.
Her research interests encompass intensive care and critical illnesses, respiratory failure and mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring methods, and critical illness ultrasonography.
